The purpose of this collection of aphorisms is to awaken in the reader the desire to meditate on that process we know as a revolution, to weigh the role we play in life, and to gain insight into a possible happy ending that all revolutionary processes should enjoy.

Every thought here is a seed that may or may not yield fruit. It all depends on what the reader uses to water it. If any resonates within a reader’s heart or soul, this collection will have served its purpose.

Albert Camus wrote that in general the average human being only has two or three original thoughts in his life. Therefore, it is unlikely that many of the thoughts gathered here are original. But they surfaced as those clouds that adorn the blue sky for just a moment and then disappear. Everything disappears, even a dictator or the memory of a dictator.

José León Varela-Ibarra, PhD was born in Cuba of a Nicaraguan mother. His middle name is the city where his mother was from. He also had relatives on this father’s side in Venezuela. He left Cuba at 13 to leave behind the social hypocrisy and government corruption he could see all around him. He has been a soldier, bar waiter, insurance salesperson, casino worker, university professor, translator, poet, journalist, and writer. Perhaps because he suffers from scoliosis, he inclines more to the left than the right. However, he has never supported, not now supports, or will ever support any type of dictatorship.
